Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear

During the month of September, one of the songs my Kindergarteners worked on was "Teddy Bear." Many of you may remember jumping rope to this little chant as a child or you may even be familiar with the tune. We took a few weeks to learn all of the moves to the song.

Here is Mrs. Dodd's Kindergarten class singing and dancing to the Teddy Bear song.

Waddaly Atcha... Doodaly Doo!

This week in Music with Mrs. Harrell at Northshore Elementary the 3rd and 4th graders have been preparing for their fall programs. The 4th grade program about the History of American Music will be performed in October . The 3rd Graders will present the patriotic program "Thankful for America" in honor of our American Veterans in November. I will be sharing more about these programs in the near future.

On a lighter note... Music class for the 2nd graders this week included learning the song "Waddaly Atcha." This is a silly, non-sense words song with a hand-jive. Mrs. Starks' 2nd Grade class did a great job on this song this week. Hope you all enjoy it!

Let's Begin Again

Welcome back everyone! It is time to get your school supplies together, set your alarm clock a little earlier, and hop on the bus. Northshore Elementary began yesterday and we are already in full swing. I am looking forward to another great year.

During the first week of school we mostly go over rules and appropriate behaviors in Music Class. As soon as we get into singing and playing instruments I will have some pictures and videos up. Hope all the kids and parents have a great school year!

Summertime

Ah, summer. As of now I am immensely enjoying a beautiful and relaxing visit with my sister Megan Lynn and the wonderful Reddekopp family in Paauilo, Hawaii on the Big Island.

Even though I am on vacation I am already thinking about the school year to come and making big plans for next year's Honor Choir and Percussion Ensemble. I had such a talented choir this past school year and and looking forward to a group of 5th graders that are ready and willing to play and perform with just as much passion and ability.

Here are a few clips of last year's Northshore Elementary Honor Choir and Percussion Ensemble. In honor of my being in Hawaii... the choir is singing "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" from Disney's Lilo and Stitch. The Percussions Ensemble preformed "Hot Cross Fun" an upbeat and updated Ragea version of "Hot Cross Buns." This performances were on Saturday, April 28th at the annual Picnic for Prevention  at LeFluers Bluff in Jackson, MS. This even a family fun day in the park and event for the awareness of how to prevent child abuse and encourage a healthy family environment.
